Jersey’s Law Officers' Department has been awarded the Lexcel accreditation for “excellence in practice management and client care” for a second year running.
The accreditation was given following an independent assessment in October.
Lexcel assessor, Tracy Thompson, concluded in her report: “Files are very well managed and the Directors should be proud that employees recognise that their colleagues often go over and above the expected standard of care when dealing with client departments.”
She highlighted twelve areas of good practice in her report and five suggestions for best practice.

Mrs Thompson went on to describe the department as having adapted “extremely well” to the pandemic, saying staff had “executed their business continuity plan very well.”
‘People management’ was found to be an area with particularly good pratices in place, with Mrs Thompson commenting that she “was pleased to hear during the course of the interviews of the supportive team spirit within the Department and of there being a truly supportive team culture.”
She added that she was “pleased to hear from employees who recently joined the Department about the robust interview process” and concluded that “the Department demonstrates an inspiring approach to promoting learning and self-development.”
Attorney General, Mark Temple QC said: “I am very grateful to each member of the Department’s staff for their hard work and dedication to client service which has been evidenced in this report. Achieving Lexcel accreditation for the second year is a tremendous accolade and demonstrates that the Law Officers’ Department is operating to the highest standards as determined by an external, independent assessor.”
