Local business helps Family Nursing & Home Care to buy new care equipment

Family Nursing & Home Care (FNHC) has invested in specialist equipment, which will enable its home care and crisis reablement teams to deliver frontline care to patients in the community.

The Charity has been able to purchase the equipment, which costs £4,600 and includes oxygen saturation meters, digital thermometers and blood pressure machines, thanks to generous support from Roberts Garages.

The Roberts Garages Community Wishes scheme has donated £2,100 to FNHC, and the remaining money has been raised through Roberts’ loyalty card scheme.

FNHC chief executive, Julie Gafoor, said: "As a charitable organisation FNHC relies on the kind support of businesses and the public to continue providing a breadth of vital health services. Our home care and crisis reablement teams offer frontline care to patients who need support outside of hospital, and this equipment will help our nurses to continue doing this important work.

Since 2007, FNHC members and staff have been eligible to apply for a Roberts loyalty card. One pence from each purchase made using the cards is donated to FNHC, raising over £12,100 to date.

In 2014 FNHC launched a rapid response and crisis reablement team in partnership with HSSD. The aim of the team is to prevent inappropriate hospital admissions and, for some people already in hospital, to help them get home more quickly.

Home care is a core service for FNHC. The Charity has a team of qualified community nurses, health and home care assistants who provide help, advice and support to increase patients’ independence at home.
