Local digital start-up plans to go global with 'wellness' platform

Monday 26 February 2018

Jersey based digital start-up, Soulgenic, is launching an online wellness platform later this year.

Soulgenic says its "innovative 360 approach" provides a total wellness solution, encompassing mind as well as body and allowing users to integrate it with their existing way of life.

It's a joint venture between Glenda Rivoallan, founder and CEO of Soulgenic and Jersey-based digital agency Web Reality.

Ms Rivoallan commented: “I was really frustrated with not being able to access a total wellness solution without using multiple apps all at once. I just felt that our industry had failed to integrate the key pillars of health in an integrated approach that meets modern day demands. Soulgenic allows our consumer to experience not only fitness solutions but also solutions for nutrition, mind body and health.

"We also aim to improve access and affordability of wellness offerings to the masses. It’s ironic and quite frankly sad that the very people who need us the most are usually the very people that can’t afford the service – we aim to change that and effort will be rewarded with reduced membership rates.”

The digital start-up will be providing around 40 job roles and has been supported by Digital Jersey. Dr Andrew Mitchell, Jersey’s Consultant Cardiologist, Kit Chamier, nutritionist, and Dan Ireland, mindfulness coach, will be along the local professionals producing content for the online platform.

The start-up initially used the Digital Jersey Hub for office space and received guidance and advice on funding and licences from the government-funded digital industry body.

Tony Moretta, Digital Jersey, CEO, said: “Soulgenic is exactly the kind of business we want. It’s innovative, it creates local jobs and it works with other established local businesses. It’s a win-win for our economy.”

Matthew Robins, Chief Executive of Web Reality, said: “It’s very exciting to be building a product that has the potential to change people’s lives for the better. We are working hard to develop a user experience that people will really want to engage with. The Soulgenic team includes stellar health, fitness and wellness practitioners, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

Soulgenic has already secured its first local corporate client in the form of the CI Coop. All of the local retailer’s 1000 employees will be given access to the online platform in the first quarter to support staff wellness. The Soulgenic online wellness platform will launch later this year to the general public.
