Mind Jersey’s carer and Family Support Manager, Stephen McCrimmon, has joined the Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Faculty of Liaison Psychiatry as their Carer Representative.
Liaison Psychiatry is intended to bridge the divide between physical and mental health, and offers psychiatric treatment to patients attending Accident and Emergency, clinics or in-patient wards.
Mr McCrimmon says he was delighted to accept the position on the committee: “This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute and learn at such an important environment as the Royal College of Psychiatry which sets and raises the standards in psychiatry. The opportunity to really make a difference for carers and represent their voice to influence National policy and Governance in Mental Health is something I am very grateful of and will do my absolute best to deliver on.
“I hope to bring much of this learning back to Jersey to help with our current work with Carers and Families via the Mind Jersey Carer and Family support service and also in the Partnership working we have with Mental Health Services on the Island.”
