New Airport Director sworn in

Tuesday 11 December 2018

Newly appointed Inez Bartolo has been sworn in as Jersey's new Airport Director and Assistant Harbourmaster.

Ms Bartolo, who has worked as an Aerodrome Inspector at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for nearly 30 years, was recruited as Stephen Driscoll’s replacement in October following his retirement after 44 years at the Airport.

As Airport Director, Mrs Bartolo now has overall responsibility for the policing, control and administration of the aerodrome and the Channel Islands Control Area (CICA) as well as enforcement of the legislation, including overall responsibility for safety and security relating to air navigation.

Staff wellbeing, diversity and inclusion are said to feature highly on Mrs Bartolo's list of priorities.

She said she was very pleased to join the Ports of Jersey's team and was looking forward to, "...the future and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for the organisation." "I’ve worked in an often-male dominated environment, but I’m delighted to see more women achieving senior management roles, especially in aviation and excited to see the opportunities that are now becoming available for women to contribute," she added.
