New Chairperson to lead Jersey Business

Monday 13 July 2015

Wendy Lambert has been appointed Chair of the Board of Jersey Business, succeeding Peter Funk.

Wendy, who joined Jersey Business as Deputy Chair 12 months ago, led her first full board meeting earlier this month.

Wendy Lambert is a Jersey qualified solicitor with over 25 years of experience in providing legal and training advice to Jersey businesses in all industry sectors.  She was a member and chairperson on the Employment Forum for a number of years and more recently has been a member of the working committee developing the Control of Housing and Work Law.

Commenting on her appointment Wendy said: "I was keen to join the Jersey Business team because, having provided legal advice for all sizes of businesses in the Island over the years, I know that the kind of support offered by Jersey Business is absolutely essential to the success of local enterprise but is often hard to come by. 12 months on, having got to know more about what we can offer to local businesses, I am even more committed and excited about being involved."

Wendy takes over from Peter Funk who was appointed as Chairman in February 2012 when Jersey Business was established by the Economic Development department to support the growth and development of companies on the island. Peter recruited Jersey Business’s board and the advisory team which has now grown to nine experience business practitioners.

Graeme Smith, CEO said: "Great credit to the success of Jersey Business has to go to Peter and the solid foundations he laid in the early days. This has allowed us to grow with a solid base and to make a real difference to many businesses both small, medium and in some cases large. I am looking forward to working with Wendy through the next stages of development of Jersey Business.

"We are a small team but every one of us has practical experience of setting up, building and on some occasions closing a business down. The very fact that we are seeing clients coming back to us at key stages of their business lifecycle is the best confirmation that we are delivering a service that is truly valued. From the feedback I have received it’s clear we have built a ‘trusted confidential partner’ relationship with our clients."
