Ian Murphy has joined Volaw Group from another large Jersey fiduciary services company to take up the position of Head of Compliance and Risk.

Mr Murphy has over 20 years commercial experience during which time he held a number of senior management and director positions in large UK and Jersey based organisations.

He started his career in retail management for a major UK supermarket chain before moving to Jersey in 1993 to work for Le Riche Group, where he reached the position of Retail Managing Director.

He has substantial experience in acquisition and mergers, change management and process, large scale team management and board level/strategic direction.

Subsequently Mr Murphy has spent the last 15 years employed within the finance industry and has held a number of principal and key positions at major trust and company service providers. In previous roles his main responsibilities included group wide risk, corporate governance oversight, compliance and regulatory responsibility.

Mr Murphy currently sits on the Jersey Financial Services Commission’s AML/CFT steering group. He is a qualified Chartered Secretary and has a master’s degree in corporate governance.

Volaw’s Managing Director Robert Christensen welcomed Mr Murphy to Volaw Group, stating: “We are very happy to have Ian join us with his excellent track record of achievement in his previous roles. He is a highly successful and accomplished corporate governance professional, both academically and commercially.
