New head for Digital Hub

Friday 15 January 2016

A new Head of Digital Hub has been appointed to lead the tech industry’s central facility in Grenville Street.

Gwyn Garfield-Bennett is to take on the newly created role which will focus on ensuring the Hub is a thriving centre for the digital community in the island.

Gwyn, formerly the Head of Marketing and Communications for Digital Jersey will work with Events, Membership and Communications Officer, Jessica Draisey and a Hub User committee to develop the DJ Hub through workshops, events and member initiatives.

CEO of Digital Jersey, Tony Moretta, said the role is a great fit, ‘I’m delighted Gwyn is taking on this critical role for Digital Jersey. We are entering a new phase as detailed in our recent business plan, and separating the Hub from the Industry Trade Association will enable us to focus and deliver our key objectives, including supporting local technology firms and the digital community.’

Gwyn has been involved with the tech community for several years after setting up teenage coding club, Jersey Coders and she graduated from the DJ Coding programme in 2015. A highly experienced media professional, Gwyn will continue to lead the DJ Hub marketing and communications while also using experience gained from running her own publishing company in the UK to manage the business and membership of the Hub.

‘I’m passionate about making sure the Digital Jersey Hub is a thriving centre for our tech community, supporting entrepreneurs and new start-ups while providing a mentoring and networking environment for all ages. This is a really exciting time for the digital community in Jersey as we build our industry and skills base, and I hope that, with the support of our members, the Hub can play a key role in bringing everyone together to collaborate and develop.’
