New sports shop in the running for the Airport

A local retailer is hoping to see his sporty clothing flying off the shelves when he sets up shop at the Airport in the next few months.

Matt Harris is going airside with another More than Sport (MTS) and plans to launch his own clothing brand next year.

Mr Harris said: “MTS will be offering a completely different shopping experience to the existing businesses at Jersey Airport.

“The shop will be airside and I am hoping for it to open in November or December with the majority of products being lifestyle based – t shirts, hoodies, flip flops, bags and ski accessories in winter months.”

MTS started out in 2010 as a small shop and online store and has since moved into bigger premises at Liberty Wharf.

Mr Harris said 40% of the shoppers in his town shop are tourists during the summer months and he’s confident his new airport store will be a hit with holidaymakers as they head home.

And they’ll soon be able to take home a real local souvenir when Matt launches his own Jersey brand.

Mr Harris said: “The MTS Brand will start off as a very small range to test the water, looking at T-Shirts and Hoodies with prints on them related to Jersey.

“If this all goes well then I will look to expand and go into my bespoke clothing further down the road.”
