Over 3,000 Islanders move their landlines to Sure

Thursday 07 April 2016

Just ten months after the introduction of competition to the consumer landline market in Jersey, over 3,000 customers, representing about 5% of the market, have chosen Sure as their provider for landline services.

The fact that so many customers have moved to Sure in less than a year, proves there was an acute need for competition in the marketplace, landlines being the last area in which consumers had been denied a choice of supplier.

“There’s no doubt that islanders wanted greater choice in the landline market,” said Graham Hughes, Chief Executive of Sure Jersey.

“Our response to the newly competitive marketplace has been to offer better value by lowering rental costs and offering unlimited broadband, as well as delivering higher levels of customer service. This has given islanders a real choice among landline providers including, for the first time, the opportunity to receive all of their services from another operator other than the incumbent.

“Whilst these figures are very pleasing, they also show that there is a long way to go before the market achieves greater balance in terms of customer numbers, so we will keep working hard to provide the highest levels of customer service and to find new ways to offer greater value within the market.”
