35 foreign recruits brought in improve the island’s digital sector will generate a tax bill of over £600,000, Digital Jersey say.
The individuals secured permission to come to Jersey last year through Digital Jersey’s Digital Licensing Scheme.
The initiative sees Digital Jersey work alongside the Population Office in order to pull in IT and tech experts to the island to plug Jersey’s current skills gaps in the sector.
With the average salary around £54,000, the island is expected to gain more than £600,000 in taxes each year.
Once established in the island, Digital Jersey say that the individuals could also help create an additional 105 local jobs.

The figures came in the States-funded digital promotion body’s ‘2017 Achievements’ report, which celebrated the entry of five new digital start-up businesses into the 2,750-employee-strong sector.
Digital Jersey say that they don’t yet have the tools to analyse the Gross Value Added (GVA) to the economy by the sector, but that this is something they’ll focus on measuring in 2018.
This year will also see the launch of an online application portal for tech firms to advertise jobs or apply for business licenses.
They say that the system, which was developed in 2017, should also help them to collate data on sector developments.
