Public relations agency Orchard has promoted Harriet Black to consultant and John McCarthy to senior account executive.

Ms Black is joining the firm's senior consultancy team after three and a half years with the company. In her new role she will be responsible for directing PR and communications campaigns for clients in Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and the UK.

Since joining Orchard after graduating from university, she has completed the PR Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and is also recognised as an accredited practitioner by the Institute. This year she was shortlisted for the Outstanding Young Communicator award in the CIPR PRide awards for the South of England and Channel Islands.

John McCarthy, also an accredited practitioner of the CIPR, has been promoted to the role of senior account executive. This role involves co-ordinating Orchard’s research and media monitoring functions alongside client-facing work.

Orchard Managing Director Steve Falla said: "Both Harriet and John have worked immensely hard since they joined us, undertaking professional qualifications along with developing their skills on the job. It is extremely satisfying to reward them for this with their promotions, but it is also great for Orchard to see two individuals moving forward in their careers with us. Harriet’s promotion in particular is a positive sign as it means we have increased the capacity of our senior team to offer an excellent service to our clients.”
