Thirteen primary and secondary schools have benefitted from 6.5 tonnes of computer equipment donated by RBC Wealth Management.

The donation was made in partnership with local charity, the White Knight Foundation, which aims to improve the facilities for teaching in the Island’s schools.

Bill White, Trustee of the White Knight Foundation explained: "The donation from RBC Wealth Management has enabled us to further our programme of raising computer standards in education.  Top quality machines have been installed which would have cost each school around £50,000.  Plus we’ve saved teachers around 600 hours of administration time as a result of the quicker on and off functions.  We are very grateful to RBC for its support."

James Matthews, the Deputy Head Teacher at St. John’s School welcomed the donated technology saying: "With the increase in the number of machines we now have in our school, we are able to further develop our computing curriculum, in particular, the computer science strand which explores coding. Also as the machines have been kindly refurbished with solid-state drives, it allows us much faster access to the internet. We are grateful for the support of both the White Knight Foundation and RBC."

Ann Marie Vibert, RBC Wealth Management, said: "As an organisation, we actively support young people and are acutely aware of our environmental footprint. We were keen to explore how we could repurpose this equipment for a good cause, while supporting our island’s youth.

"In understanding there was a demand for computer equipment in our schools, a committed team wiped all data from the technology and we’re delighted that the equipment has been rehoused in Jersey schools."
