Costcutter shops have become the latest addition to Sandpiper's real estate portfolio in an acquisition that will bring 35 new jobs and a seven-figure sum refurbishment programme to the food retail shops.
SandpiperCI CEO, Tony O’Neill said: “The acquisition of Costcutter’s stores should be well received by islanders. We’re intending to increase the choice and range of products and our greater buying power means we can lower prices considerably.
"We’re also looking forward to trading in parishes and locations we currently don’t operate in. Starting at the end of July, the Costcutter stores will be converted at a rate of around one every fortnight to our popular Foodhall fascia providing a much wider range of fresh and chilled products locally.”
SandpiperCI made the announcement following approval by Jersey's competition authority, and they have said that all Costcutter employees will transfer over to Sandpiper to enjoy improved employment terms, rates, staff discounts and employee benefits.
