Islanders travelling to Southampton Hospital for treatment are being offered a helping hand by JT with the free use of a JT Smart Tablet during their visit.
JT has donated JT Smart Tablet devices to the Jersey General Hospital, to be made accessible to any patient travelling to Southampton who doesn’t have their own Smartphone or tablet. Patients will not require a SIM card or be charged to use the devices.
Tim Ringsdore, Chief Relationship Officer at JT, said: “For anyone going through treatment of any kind, having a Smartphone or tablet is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family at home and continue to feel supported by them. The cost of phone calls and data when away receiving treatment can add up, and could be upsetting at an already stressful time, but by connecting to the free Wi-Fi at Southampton Hospital there is no charge to patients when using Smart devices.
“It has been our pleasure to provide the JT Smart Tablets to the Jersey General Hospital for patients to borrow and we hope that they will help ease things for patients during their travel and stay in Southampton.”
Helen O’Shea, Managing Director of Jersey General Hospital said: “We are very grateful to JT for making these tablets available for patients travelling to Southampton. We know from the feedback we have received that the cost of keeping in touch – at a time when this is most necessary – can be high and results in additional anxiety for patients and their families. This initiative will make a significant positive contribution in this area.”
JT has also created a PDF document to offer advice to avoid roaming bill shock while away from the Island for treatment, which will be provided in the travelling pack by the Jersey General Hospital.
