'Strong performance' for Liberation Group in first half of 2024

Tuesday 06 August 2024

Liberation Group has reported a "continued strong performance" for the business in the first half of the year – even with a wet start to the summer.

The premium pub operator and brewing group revealed that its Total Managed LFL grew 6.4% in H1 with a standout performance in food at 10.0% growth, assisted by strong occupancy in its accommodation business, and a growing breakfast and brunch trade.

Liberation Group said that its success is partly due to the announcement that their managed pubs would take advantage of the growing demand for breakfast and brunch at the beginning of the year. They have revealed a 33.9% LFL growth in pre midday sales.

The Group has also completed significant renovation developments in various locations in the UK, and further key investments will follow by the end of the year – all due to be launched into Butcombe Boutique Inns.

The Group have also seen several accolades including The George Inn, based in Bath, which recently won 'Pub of the Year' at the National Pub & Bar awards.

Management company Butcombe Pubs & Inns also recently won the prestigious 'Pub and Bar Catey Award' for its food offering in various outlets.

The Butcombe Brewing and Drinks business performance has continued to grow, with sales up 1.0% from last year and an excellent performance in the UK Free Trade market with sales up 8.5% year-on-year. The growth has been in part due to the increased demand of the Butcombe's award-winning non-alcoholic beers, the Group said.

Jonathan Lawson, CEO of Liberation Group, said: "I’m pleased that we have maintained our strong start to the year, despite the challenges posed by an unseasonably wet summer so far.

"We have a simple strategy and clear plan for growth across our Group and it is particularly satisfying to see strong performances in key areas of focus including our newest pubs, food (particularly in breakfast and brunch), accommodation and our Free Trade business.

"We are confident about the second half of the year, particularly if the sun shines, and are already turning our thoughts towards providing a truly memorable Christmas for our customers."

Liberation Group has sites stretching from Mayfair in London to St Aubin in Jersey.
