An award-winning designer who specialises in corporate business wear is passing on some of her styling tips to local businesswomen today.
Kay Davidson who is style director and co-founder of stylists 'Alicia Kay' is on a mission to empower women and help them look good and will be speaking at the Women's Development Forum over lunch at the Royal Yacht Hotel.
She said: “We all know that first impressions count and therefore make the effort for an interview, because when we pay attention to our appearance we feel more confident in ourselves. But why are we only prepared to put in effort for an important interview? Surely we should feel confident and great with our image every day?
“Looking good is so much more than vanity. Countless studies have proved that what you wear affects your confidence, your mood, motivation levels and performance. And when you feel good about yourself it is infectious. Others want to be around you because of your happy demeanour. Scientists call this the halo effect.
“Wearing the right clothes can change how you feel about yourself, in turn giving you more confidence in the workplace and a much happier you!"
The event is being organised by The Women's Development Forum (WDF) - a not-for-profit organisation supporting working women in the Channel Islands.
WDF founder Michelle Johansen said: “This is the sixth and final WDF event in Jersey for the 2015/16 season which has covered topics as wide-ranging as ‘Is it still a man’s world?’ and ‘Women as global growth generators’.
"I am delighted that we have attracted a speaker of the calibre of Kay for our ‘Does image matter’ event which looks set to be an insightful and enjoyable finale to the season."
The event is running from 12-2pm today, includes a light lunch and is free for WDF members, and £30 for non-members.
