Customers in Sure’s new store on King Street can now top up their pre-pay mobile phones or pay for goods with a simple swipe of their iPhone by using Apple’s new payment system, Apple Pay.
Following the launch of Sure’s high-tech store at the beginning of June, the company has quickly moved to bring the new payment technology to customers and by doing so, has created a faster and more flexible shopping experience.
“We want our new store to use the latest technologies wherever they are able to create a better customer experience,” said Lisa Mclauchlan, Head of Commercial Operations at Sure. “Apple Pay is a secure and very convenient way for our customers to top-up their mobiles or pay for goods in store.
“It will be interesting to see how popular the new technology is. People are beginning to use non- contact payment technologies but the payment culture is still focused around cards and cash. However, Apple and the iPhone are extremely popular so the launch of Apple Pay could be the first big step towards mainstream adoption.”
