Tech bootcamp hopes to help digital innovators develop ideas

Tuesday 30 January 2024

A tech bootcamp has been launched to help digital entrepreneurs refine their business ideas and prepare for potential investors.

Following the success of last year's pilot scheme, the Tech Start-Up Bootcamp will offer focused support to the emerging tech ventures of six businesses through workshops and training sessions.

It has been developed by Digital Jersey – a Government-backed agency dedicated to the growth of the digital sector – in collaboration with finance company PwC, financial crime hub KYC360, and technology investors TEKEX.

Over the next 12 weeks, the participants will be able to develop, launch, and expand their tech-based business ideas in a supportive environment known as a sandbox – a controlled and isolated testing space where software developers can safely experiment and test their programs without affecting production systems or data.

They will receive guidance on various aspects of business development, including an initial workshop delivered by Google Cloud.

There will also be the opportunity to work with a personal mentor and pitch ideas to judges and investors at the end.

Digital Jersey CEO Tony Moretta said: “Our first bootcamp was a great success and it’s been fantastic to see the diverse range of bootcampers who took part in that use their experience and go on to continue to pursue their ambitions and develop their ideas in different ways. That’s exactly what the programme is about.

“Connecting people and giving them the tools they need to shape their – and our island’s – digital future is very much our focus at Digital Jersey.

"With that in mind, and looking at the cohort we have joining the programme this year, I’m really excited to see how the bootcamp, with the support of our collaborators PwC, KYC360 and TEKEX, can continue to nurture digital creativity and success in the island.”
