TechFair 2016: The chance to see Jersey’s digital future

Friday 11 November 2016

The Jersey Tech Fair is back and organisers claim it’s bigger and better than last year with hundreds of free workshops and demonstrations, talks and exhibitions.

The two-day event, jointly organised by Digital Jersey and the Jersey branch of the British Computer Society, takes place annually at Fort Regent and starts today.

BCS Jersey Chairman, Ronnie Isherwood said: “There are more professional stands and businesses taking place this year, all showcasing the latest advancements in technology.  We also have more talks with expert panelists from both on and off island. Friday is focused on businesses and the schools with Saturday very much a day when everyone comes along with their families.”

Visitors can hear talks on topics as The Internet of Things, Blockchain and Women in Tech as well as try out the latest virtual reality experiences.

Tony Moretta, Chief Executive of Digital Jersey, said: “The event wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, KPMG, JT, BWI and Sure. It really is a community event with some of our best tech companies present.  There isn’t anywhere else in the Channel Islands that you can see so many demonstrations of the technology which is changing our world and have a chance to network and talk to the experts.”

The fair will be opened by Assistant Chief Minister with responsibility for digital, Senator Philip Ozouf, Education Minister Rod Bryans and Mr Moretta at 09:30 today.

The schedule of talks and workshops is live on the Tech Fair website, which you can go to here
