In the busy Christmas period, there is nothing more important than the Christmas shop window to attract the shoppers through the retailers’ door, increase the footfall and encourage customers to buy local!

For the third year running, all St Helier retailers will be asked to dress to impress!!

How it works

Window display competition

NEW for this year, there will be 3 winners to choose between Small, Medium, Large businesses with the best use of the window size available to them. In other words, the judges will be looking for the most innovative and unique display! We all know that St Helier retailers are a creative bunch, and now is their opportunity to prove it. Also NEW for this year, the public will also be able to nominate one very Special Christmas Shop Assistant, this will be the public vote only.

The decision will be undertaken by a selected panel of key personnel, including Connetable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, a representative of Economic Development Department and the President of Jersey Chamber of Commerce James Filleul.

The winning shops will be announced on Sunday 22nd December during the highly popular  Christmas Sunday shopping at The Cock and Bottle at 12pm. The winning retailers will be the recipient of a trophy to display proudly within their premises, and the overall winner will also receive “The Christmas Window Competition Trophy”. There will also be some amazing prizes for 5 members of the public who voted, including Sure Ice Skate Tickets and lots more!!

Community competition

During the month of December members of the public will be encouraged to take a photo of their favourite display.  All stores will have stickers contained within their window display, and the public will be encouraged to send their photos.

The entry forms can be found with our Official sponsors Jersey Tourism, and The Parish of St Helier, throughout the town shops, online, Facebook and Twitter. Channel 103 will also be supporting this event and throughout the month of December.

Profits go in Aid of Jersey Women’s refuge.

Simon Crowcroft, Connetable of St Helier said, “I applaud this exciting and fun initiative. As well as encouraging all retailers to participate and make this Christmas really special, I am delighted that the organiser has had the forethought to ensure a local charity also benefits from this”.

This event is a great opportunity to keep the community motivated about the local retailer and reinforce the message to “Buy Local”.
