Collas Crill has one again partnered with Cancer Research UK to support and educate islanders on making and updating their will.
The free event, taking place on Thursday 29 September from 6pm to 7pm, is aimed at helping people make sense of the local inheritance laws and guiding them through the process of making a will.
Joanne Seal and Julie Harrigan from Collas Crill's wills and estates team will lead the sessions in Guernsey and Jersey respectively.
Joanne, group partner and head of the wills and estates team, said: "Planning for the future can seem like a daunting prospect but it's the best way to ensure that you protect and preserve your interests, and those of your family, even after you pass away. It's our job to make that process as simple and as stress-free as possible.
"In our experience, we know that there are many people in the Channel Islands who feel that they would like to leave a legacy to a particular charity who has helped them or touched their lives in some way. By writing this legacy into your will you are ensuring that your wishes are honoured and that whatever you leave behind can make a valuable and important contribution to the lives of others for years after you pass away.
"We hope that by offering this service islanders will not only benefit from the unique opportunity to prepare or update a will at a discounted price, but that should they choose to do so, they will also be able to give something back to a charity that is invaluable in the fight against cancer – a disease that touches so many of our lives in one way or another."

"To achieve this we aim to accelerate progress with a bold new strategy, focusing our efforts on four key objectives: prevent, diagnose, treat, optimise current treatments. We’re already making headway and legacy gifts are at the heart of this progress, funding a third of our research. Together we are writing an end to cancer."
Any individuals aged 55 or over will be able to use the service which will see Cancer Research cover a proportion of the costs of preparing or updating wills. Most people who use the service leave a legacy to the charity, helping to save thousands of lives every year, although they are under no obligation to do so.
The sessions will take place at Collas Crill's offices: 40 Don Street, St Helier in Jersey and Glategny Court, St Peter Port in Guernsey.
