Appleby Guernsey is pleased to announce the appointment of senior funds and finance lawyer Kate Storey who has joined the firm’s Corporate and Commercial department as Counsel.

Advocate Kate Storey is an established corporate and commercial lawyer with over 13 years’ experience, of which the last 7 have been in Guernsey.

Kate qualified as an English Solicitor in 2000 and as a Guernsey Advocate in 2009. Kate advises on all areas of Guernsey corporate and commercial work, including funds, capital markets, financing and mergers and acquisitions. She has specialist expertise in the establishment, listing and regulation of investment funds and the licensing and regulation of fund managers, financial services providers, SPVs and insurance vehicles under all of Guernsey’s financial regulatory laws. She also has particular experience in banking, asset finance and corporate finance, as well as corporate restructurings. Kate also has expertise in Intellectual Property and is a Guernsey registered image rights agent and patent agent. She was a member of the technical advisory committee for Guernsey’s innovative image rights ordinance introduced last year.

This senior appointment represents the further expansion of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial department and compliments the arrival of Matthew Wrigley, a senior funds lawyer, and corporate associate Michael Richards, earlier this year. The team has been extremely busy acting on new fund launches, investor due diligence exercises, single asset funds, joint venture fund structures, fund restructuring as well as an enormous amount of banking and asset finance work. Kate joined Appleby from local law firm Collas Crill, and previously worked at Mourant Ozannes.

Jeremy Berchem, Head of the Corporate & Commercial group at Appleby in Guernsey commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Kate to Appleby. Kate brings with her a wealth of experience in funds and finance work that will add significant strength and depth to what already is a dynamic and talented team.”
