Islanders will have the chance to find out more information regarding the project to build Jersey’s new Hospital at a series of public drop-in sessions during August.

Events will be held in St Helier as well as outlying parishes to the west (St Brelade), north (St John) and east (Grouville), giving attendees the chance to learn more about plans for the new Hospital. As announced in June, the Council of Ministers has identified a preferred option for the project, which is to build on the southern half of the existing Hospital site and adjoining land in Newgate Street and Kensington Place.

The meetings will provide an opportunity to speak to politicians and members of the project team and find out more about the progress of feasibility studies that are currently taking place, the timescale and scope of the proposed project, and detail about the services which will be provided when the new Hospital opens. Islanders will also be able to ask questions and raise any concerns they may have.

The drop-in meetings will take place as follows (attendees are welcome at any point during the advertised times):

  • Wednesday 3 August, 12noon- 2pm and 6- 8pm, Town Hall, St Helier
  • Monday 8 August, 6- 8pm, Parish Hall, St Brelade
  • Tuesday 16 August, 6- 8pm, Parish Hall, St John
  • Thursday 25 August, 6- 8pm, Parish Hall, Grouville

Senator Andrew Green, Minister for Health and Social Services, said: “We are at important stage of the project and want to engage with the public so they have all the necessary information prior to the matter being considered by the States Assembly and Scrutiny Panel members later in the year.”
