MEDIA RELEASE: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and not Bailiwick Express, and the text is reproduced exactly as supplied to us

Come and visit the beautiful gardens of Les Chasses on Sunday 4th July, open to the public by kind permission of David Roberts.

A delight for nature lovers of all ages, these gardens have been specifically designed to attract birds, bugs and bees. A run of fir trees spanning the road provides safe passage for local squirrels. And there is an emphasis on traditional, pesticide-free solutions to gardening problems like pond-cleaning. Join Neil and Ali Singleton of Birding Tours (Jersey) for a guided Nature Walk at 3pm to enhance your enjoyment of these wonderful grounds. An added attraction this year is the fabulous Rose Garden belonging to neighbour, Mrs Sue Russell. Created by her late husband, Jock, and inspired by a window in the Fisherman’s Chapel at St Brelade, rose lovers will be enchanted by it.

Les Chasses will be open from 2pm until 5pm. Entrance costs £5 (children under 12 free). And don’t forget to treat yourself to one of JAYF’s delicious cream teas. Regret no dogs. Parking is free. Look out for signposts at nearby junctions.

All proceeds go to JAYF (Jersey Association for Youth and Friendship) to provide help and security in four hostels on the island for disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.

JAYF are enormously grateful to Aztec Group for its continued support of the Open Garden scheme.
