This Wednesday, 21st May, sees the 2014 inaugural direct flight from Jersey to Palma in Majorca by FlyDirect, part of the Channel Islands-based C. I. Travel Group.
For the first time in many years, islanders will be able to enjoy the speed and comfort of travelling by jet to the sun as the route will be served by a 125 seat Boeing 717, operated by carrier Volotea. The service will operate every week until the end of September with a flight time of just 2 hours.
To help get passengers in the holiday mood before they jet off to the sun on the inaugural flight, FlyDirect and Jersey Airport will be serving up tapas and sangria.
“We are very excited to see our first jet connection to the Mediterranean take off from Jersey,” commented Robert Mackenzie of C.I. Travel Group. “Demand for these direct air services is higher than ever and reflects islanders desire to avoid the long journey and hassle of travelling via the UK.”

Myra Shacklady, Group Commercial Director of Ports of Jersey welcomed the new development. “We have a close relationship with C.I. Travel Group and are pleased to see a further increase in flights and capacity to the Mediterranean, adding to the list of destinations served from the island.”
FlyDirect has also recently launched a programme of flights and inclusive holidays for October to Malaga, offering a choice of holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol. They have also announced a one- off 3 night break with direct flights to Barcelona from 1st - 4th October.
