Ogier has maintained its leading position in the prestigious independent Legal 500 directory released today.

The firm ranks in the top tier in eight practice areas across the Channel Islands, maintaining consistently high rankings achieved in recent years.

The directory records that the Jersey Employment team has been ranked in the top tier for the first time, and that the Guernsey insurance team has also climbed a step up the ranks.

Today's directory is another independent endorsement of the quality of Ogier's advice across service lines and jurisdictions – in 2016 alone, the firm has been named the Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers Europe, Hedgeweek Global Awards and the Alpha Awards, following up on similar awards from The Lawyer and STEP the previous year.

The firm has also won awards for Best Rebranding Campaign, High Yield Deal of the Year and Caribbean Law Firm of the Year during the last 12 months.

Steve Meiklejohn, Ogier's Global Senior Partner, said: "Once again the biggest titles in our industry have recognised the excellence of the advice and service that we provide across a diverse range of legal disciplines.

"The overall ratings are hard-earned and gratifying, but it's particularly pleasing to see key figures recognised in the way that they have been in this year's publication.

"It's particularly pleasing to see the rising stars of our firm individually recognised by the Legal500 – the endorsements for Niamh Lalor, Matthew Gilley and Nicola Roberts in Jersey and for Bryon Rees, Christopher Jones, Martyn Baudains and Claire Smith in Guernsey are the result of dedicated and hard work."
