UNIQUE EXHIBITION OF WORK BY SIR FRANCIS COOK - ‘AN ISLAND HOME’

CCA Galleries International is delighted to collaborate with Jersey Heritage on a forthcoming exhibition ‘An Island Home’ which highlights a collection of work by Sir Francis Cook. The paintings and drawings have been selected from the Jersey Heritage collection of his work donated to the Island by Lady Cook. Many of the pictures on view are being shown to the public for the first time.

Accompanying them will be landscape themed limited edition prints and paintings from renowned British Contemporary artists including Donald Hamilton Fraser and John Piper as well as a new release from Lucy Farley.

Jersey representative of The Art Fund (the National Art Collections Fund), Anne Binney says of the Cook collection “This is a staggering collection of work by any standards and encompasses a lifetime of painting. Sir Francis came to Jersey in 1948 and made the Island his home for the rest of his life. He painted constantly, picturing the world around him as he saw and experienced it. His love of Jersey is apparent from the collection of his paintings chosen for this exhibition.”

“He clearly delighted in the Islands’ coastline. He was also a founder member of the Jersey Society of Artists which was set up by a group of his friends. Sir Francis was serious about establishing recognition for contemporary artists in Jersey by making sure the society held regular exhibitions and being an active member himself.”

Chairman of CCA Galleries International, Lance Trevellyan is pleased to support the Islands cultural heritage and says; “We are delighted to facilitate this exhibition on behalf of The Art Fund. The purpose of the show is to display a unique collection of Sir Francis Cook’s work – most of which have never been viewed before. Alongside these works will be limited edition landscape prints from some of Cook’s most esteemed UK counterparts such as Donald Hamilton Fraser and John Piper. In keeping with the aims of the society we will also show a newly released silkscreen print ‘To the Lighthouse, Ile de Ré’ by emerging painter and printmaker, Lucy Farley showcasing her fresh and dynamic take on nature, landscape and spirit of place.”
