Business leaders and security professionals will be given an opportunity on 30 May 2014 to address the cyber security agenda with world-renowned security experts at the Royal Yacht Hotel in St Helier, Jersey.

The free event, which comprises a morning technical seminar and afternoon conference for business and IT leaders, will also mark the official launch of the Channel Islands Information Security Forum (CIISF), which was established last year to promote debate and understanding of cyber security in Jersey and Guernsey and now has over 100 members.

Matt Palmer, Chair of the Channel Islands Information Security Forum commented:

“If the Channel Islands’ business leaders only do one thing to address cyber security, this should be it. With an ever increasing number of security breaches and an increased global threat, cyber security cannot be ignored - however few executives feel they have the skills or insights they need to put their company on a strong footing.”

“Attendees will leave with the critical tools they need to address the cyber security agenda in their business, as well as an understanding of the business opportunity offered by developing the Islands’ reputation for trust in cyber security.”

Arthur Mainja, Deputy Chair of the Forum, added:

“Business leaders and IT professionals are locked in a constant battle to protect their business and secure systems and information. In today’s highly regulated business environment, being able to address these issues is critical and managing this risk effectively can give your business a competitive edge.”

The event will see internationally renowned big names in cyber security combine with local experts. Speakers will include cryptographer and educator, Professor Fred Piper, as well as financial services security leader and former Chief Information Security Officer, Stephen Bonner from the UK.

Alongside the leading UK names, there will be an opportunity to hear from local speakers including Foreshore’s Chris Evans and Paul Dutot of Logicalis.

Registration is free of charge with support from the Foreshore, the Chartered Institute for IT, and Digital Jersey.
