Classic Science Fiction movies are being screened at Guernsey Museum to complement its popular new exhibition ‘Engage Warp Drive’. Doors open an hour before the movie, allowing time to see the exhibition first. This will be especially welcome to people who do not have chance to see it in the daytime.
One film has been selected from each of the past 7 decades, on the following schedule:
Weds 1 Nov – Forbidden Planet (1956)
Weds 8 Nov – Quatermass and the Pit (1967)
Weds 15 Nov – Silent Running (1972)
Thurs 23 Nov – Dune (1984)
Thurs 30 Nov – Starship Troopers (1997)
Weds 6 Dec – Children of Men (2006)
Weds 13 Dec – Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Tickets are on sale at www.guernseytickets.gg at £7.50 which includes entrance to ‘Engage Warp Drive’ and also ‘Warp 2’ featuring the artwork of visionary artist Chris Foss is also on show in the greenhouse gallery. Doors open 6.30pm, film shows at 7.30pm.
On Thurs 16 Nov there will also be a CriticsChoice Sci-Fi screening at Beau Cinema at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre. Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be screening at 7.30pm and tickets can be purchased from Guernseytickets.gg or any Guernsey Tickets Box Office by visiting in person or by calling 747280.
