Company directors and administrators can learn how to enhance their skills and ensure that their businesses run effectively through a new offering of the IOD Company Direction Programme by the GTA University Centre.

The programme, which launches this October, has been successfully run on-island for a number of years, and aims to equip directors with all-round skills, knowledge and understanding essential for directing an organisation from a strategic perspective.

At a lunchtime presentation tomorrow IoD members Martyn Mann and Carol Goodwin will explain the programme’s benefits.

"The GTA’s recent panel debate identified that good leadership was paramount to the success of local businesses and the ultimately the island. Inspiring teams to deliver and being able to navigate difficult situations are vital skills that we hope to impart to delegates," said the GTA’s chief executive, Simon Le Tocq.

The Company Direction Programme consists of five short courses, each concentrating on particular aspects of the director’s and board’s role. The first four courses make up the Certificate in Company Direction, which then leads onto the Diploma in Company Direction. Delegates will also have the chance to learn about the Accelerated Certification route, an intensive five-and-a-half day workshop covering certificate modules.

The taster session takes place tomorrow at the GTA University Centre, from 1pm to 2pm, and is free.
