GTA University Centre, a local training organisation, has been awarded re-accreditation against the Investors in People Standard, demonstrating their commitment to high performance through good people management.

The GTA’s role is to contribute to the Bailiwick’s economic success by providing quality training to the local workforce. The GTA employs 16 people at its Union Street training centre, and has been trading as a not-for-profit since its inception in 1996. In 2006 the GTA was accredited as a University Centre of Bournemouth University in recognition of its infrastructure and the support it gives its students.

GTA University Centre also helps organisations across Guernsey to discover the Investors in People (IIP) Standard, the benefits of a people focused approach and the steps towards assessment and accreditation.

Investors in People is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results. Underpinning the Standard is the Investors in People framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry. Investors in People enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.

Paul Devoy, head of Investors in People, said: ‘We’d like to congratulate GTA University Centre, Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success.’

Debbie Debdon, the IIP assessor, said: 'The GTA team should be congratulated on retaining their IIP accreditation. They have successfully used the IIP framework to build on existing areas of good practice, and they have a people-focused plan in place to meet their challenges.’

Commenting on the award, Simon Le Tocq, chief executive of the GTA, said: ‘IIP accreditation is all about recognising how essential it is to value and develop your staff. Our vision as an organisation is to develop the Bailiwick’s workforce and we apply that first and foremost to ourselves as a team. By supporting and developing our team to be effective and to live our values we can realise our vision and give the best possible service to our customers.’
