Armed police arrested four teenagers yesterday evening after receiving multiple 999 calls reporting an alleged assault by a group of youths with knives.
Officers explained in a short statement that they believe the incident took place around 17:00 on King Street between New Cut and the cider press.
"Armed officers responded and four youths (three aged 14 years and one aged 16 years) were arrested for common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and disorderly conduct," they said.
"Two knives were recovered from the youths, who remain in custody pending further enquiries. An adult male received minor injuries during the incident."
Police would now like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has more information. They should contact Police on 612612 or make an anonymous report via the Crimestoppers website.
