Busy weekend for Police

Tuesday 10 June 2014

The police are appealing for witnesses to a number of incidents over the last few days – one of which ended with a young cyclist being flown to Southampton General Hospital with a head injury.

The young woman was cycling with another along the cycle track at about 9 pm on Saturday night from People’s Park towards St Aubin when she came off her bike and was knocked unconscious, close to the final layby and the Bel Royal Kiosk.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the accident or the two women cycling just before it happened.  The women who are both in their early twenties, have long dark hair and were both riding silver mountain bikes.

They are also dealing with a theft on the cycle track the same night, an hour and a half later.

Four women were walking towards First Tower from Town when one of them had her black leather handbag snatched from her shoulder by a man on a bike.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw two men cycling near the second layby at that time who were wearing hoodies covering their heads.

They are also appealing for witnesses who saw four men fighting outside Costcutter at the top of Belmont Road on Friday night at about 9 pm.

They also want people to come forward who saw the driver of a Red Audio Convertible reverse into two mopeds in Snow Hill car park on Wednesday afternoon. Workmen helped pick up the two bikes after the car had driven off at about 4.45pm.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents can call police headquarters on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
