Islanders have been told to avoid Beaumont Hill this afternoon, after a serious collision there earlier.
Police were alerted to an accident involving an upturned red Ford Zetec shortly after 13:00. It is believed that the vehicle had slipped after striking the bank.
A photo posted to the ‘Jersey Parking Fails’ group on Facebook showed the car balancing on its roof, with significant damage to its bonnet and front bumper.
The Ambulance Service was subsequently called to the scene, but it's unknown at this stage whether the driver sustained any injuries.
In an unusual twist of fate, crews from Jersey Fire and Rescue had been training that very morning in releasing casualties trapped in or under vehicles. Following the emergency call, a Fire Engine and a Rescue unit were deployed to the area, but the car driver had already safely been removed rom the vehicle.
Instead, the crew worked to ensure the safety of the surrounding area and damaged vehicle, using winching equipment to return it to its wheels.
In the meantime, the Police warned that Islanders to expect delays and advised using an alternate route. The road was reopened just two hours later.
Beaumont Hill has been reopened to traffic following earlier RTC, thank you for your patience
