Cheers! Beer Festival’s 40th birthday starts tomorrow

Wednesday 14 September 2016

CAMRA celebrate their 40th birthday tomorrow as their annual Beer Festival comes to town.

With beers like Wonky Donkey and Cow Tipper on sale, it should make for a fun three days as ale lovers quench their thirst under the marquee at People’s Park.

Organiser Dwayne Palmer of CAMRA said the 40th birthday promises to be a special occasion, especially as the Liberation Brewery has brewed an ideally-named pint for the ruby celebrations.

“And the pint is called Ruby, very good it is too,” said Mr Palmer. “We will have over 100 beers and ciders on sale and it is the largest marquee we can get hold of. This has always been a very popular event, but it promises to be something special this year, with it being 40 years since CAMRA started in Jersey, with their first meeting in 1976 near the Esplanade.”

The festival is on from tomorrow until Saturday night, 12:00 until 23:00. Prices are £3 before 17:00 and £5 afterwards. Vouchers are on sale which cost £5 each and the beers and ciders are priced between £3.20 and £4.

Mr Palmer said: “White Rock Brewery are coming over for the first time from Guernsey and they have an amazing beer called Wonky Donkey and on Saturday night the ever-popular Sergeant Pipon's Band will be playing live.”
