Developers have lodged a planning application to add a coffee shop and "social space" to the ground floor of the new Northern Quarter development.
The development is currently being built next to Grand Marché and is expected to add 169 "affordable" homes to the area, as well as some commercial units.
The planning application proposes creating a coffee shop and "social space for residents" in the ground floor commercial unit, which will also house a building material business.
Plastic fabrication company Totem Plastics will be the operator of the entire ground floor commercial unit, but propose that it is split in two to incorporate both the building business and the coffee shop.
Block A, where the commercial unit is located, faces towards Rue Le Masurier.
The application explains: "The coffee shop will not incorporate kitchen prep for hot food, but will offer pre-prepared light food and coffees etc for consumption on the premises.
"It is anticipated that the food available will be cakes, pastries, sandwiches and similar."
The full planning application can be viewed online.
