Following more than a decade of public and political debate and several planning flops, the Health Minister has his "fingers crossed" that his £710m proposal for a new hospital at Overdale will be the one to finally make it over the line, with a hope for spades in the ground by next year... So, what's new?

As the island's fourth hospital planning application in a decade was submitted yesterday, Deputy Tom Binet stressed that much of the recent feedback on proposals for the acute facility at Overdale had outlined a need to "just get on with it".
