Condor’s main freight vessel has been fixed and will be back in action this weekend.
The Commodore Clipper needed what the company called “complex repairs” after hitting the bottom of the sea-bed in the channel into Guernsey harbour last month.
The company drafted in two charter ships to supply the Island whilst repairs were being carried out in dry dock in Falmouth and whilst the Marine Accident Investigation Branch were looking into the cause of the accident.
Condor’s CEO James Fulford said: “We are delighted that the repairs to Clipper have been completed ahead of schedule. I’d like to thank our contractors, A&P Falmouth, and crew at the dry dock in Falmouth for all their hard work, which has meant that we have Clipper back in service earlier than we expected.
“Clipper will return to work on 22 August, initially providing a freight-only service to allow routine maintenance for Commodore Goodwill which had been postponed to ensure the best possible service for our Islands during Clipper’s time in dry docks. She will be back in her usual routine next Tuesday (26 August).”
More maintenance work has been done on the Clipper whilst she has been out of action and the paintwork has been spruced up on the decks and passenger spaces.
