Covid-19: Confirmed patients now at 46

Friday 27 March 2020

The number of patients in Jersey officially confirmed to have covid-19 now stands at 46.

In total, they showed that 569 islanders had tested negative and that 56 results remained pending.

The new figures, released this afternoon, mark a jump of 14 cases from the previous day.

It remains unclear how many of these patients have been admitted to hospital and how many contracted the illness locally, rather than from abroad.

Yesterday's results came after a five-day wait.

The Chief Minister explained this was because the lab Jersey uses, which is based in London, was currently experiencing very high demand.

He added that he hoped the Channel Islands would be able to work together on test analysis in future.
