The chair of a homelessness charity is getting ready to complete a rough-sleeping challenge that has seen him spend a night outside a different parish hall each month, leaving him "even more determined" to raise funds and awareness.
Tim Ringsdore will be bedding down in his home parish of St Saviour this Friday for his final Parish Sleep Out.
Mr Ringsdore took on the challenge to raise funds for the Sanctuary Trust, which provides accommodation and support to men with a range of issues, including homelessness and addiction.
Reflecting on the last 12 months, Mr Ringsdore said: "It's been a hell of an experience.
"It doesn't matter what time of year it is, it's never comfortable.
"I can't imagine what it's like to do it 24/7."
He added that the challenge had made him "even more determined" to raise money and awareness to help tackle homelessness in the island.
The Sanctuary Trust also recently held its annual Sleep Out fundraising event in Pier Road car park, which this year saw record turnout.
Sanctuary Trust – which is Bailiwick Express and Connect Magazine's partner charity for 2023 – does not receive Government funding, so relies on fundraising efforts and donations from the public.
Every little helps: a monthly standing order of just £50 would go towards the cost of providing meals for one of their residents.
