VIDEO: The Durrells to premiere at Jersey Zoo

Thursday 06 April 2017

The first episode of the second season of The Durrells will premiere on 19 April at Jersey Zoo ahead of its TV airing date which is yet to be confirmed.

The award-winning ITV drama - mostly shot under the Corfu sun - will be back on TV later this month with six new episodes.

Milo Parker once again stars at Gerald Durrell, and will be delighted to discover an otter living close to home, while the other members of the family focus on other matters. Larry (Josh O’Connor) is pursuing his passion for writing, while Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) decides to explore his entrepreneurial spirit. Margo (Daisy Waterstone) will stay true to herself and continue to pursue unsuitable boys.

Their mother, Louisa will have trouble making ends meet and will find herself at odds with her new landlady as she can't pay her rent on time. She will also find a new love interest, an English gentleman Hugh Jarvis (Daniel Lapaine). To make ends meet, the family will try and grow food at home to sell at the market.

Based on the trilogy of memoirs from the Jersey Zoo founder, The Durrells was ITV's highest rating new drama series last year with a peak audience of 8.2million viewers. On average, the adventures of the four Durrell children, relocated from Bournemouth to Corfu by their mother Louisa, played by Keeley Hawes, after the death of her husband, captivated 6.9 million viewers. Shortly after the first season had premiered, ITV ordered a second season.
