The westbound lane of the Esplanade will be resurfaced during the October half-term, after certain portions had been neglected for nearly two decades.
Diversions will be in place for one week between 21 October and 29 October.
Islanders are advised to allocate extra time for their journeys, especially those heading to the General Hospital.
The work part of a bigger project to rebuild the roadway of the Esplanade in four sections.
The area of work will be half of lane 2 and lane 3 of the westbound carriageway between Gloucester Street and Peirson Road, as well as the right-turn lane into Kensington Place.

The road and Victoria Avenue will remain open in both directions during the work, with a contraflow to ensure there are two lanes in each direction.
Motorists coming from the east should take Castle Street as an alternate route to Patriotic Street Car Park.
Access to Kensington Place and Westpark roundabout from the east will not be possible, requiring diversions at Rue du Galet and St Aubin’s Inner Road.
