Motorists are being warned that lanes will be closed around the junction between Longueville Road and Rue Saint Thomas as extra work is required to complete the resurfacing of the "disintegrating" road.
The junction has been closed for the last two Sundays, and there have been lane closures during weekday evenings, which will continue tomorrow (29 September).
As a result of the closure, access in nearby lanes will be modified.
Rob Cabot, Highway Maintenance Manager, apologised for any disruption the extended timeframe might create and thanked islanders for their patience.
"We have carried out the work so far in the evenings and at the weekends to avoid disruption for school and commuter traffic but we need one more Sunday to finish off the project because the road was in such poor condition," he explained.
"By closing it for an additional Sunday, we are ensuring that the road’s substructure is capable of withstanding the demands placed on it as a main artery for many years to come.”

Work to resurface "disintegrating" Longueville Road started on 9 September. 150mm of the road's structure was removed and the tarmac replaced in two layers.
The second stage of the project will see the addition of a high friction surface on top of the tarmac, once it has weathered. It is expected to take place four to five weeks after the end of first phase.
