Tuesday 09 July 2024

Football fans are set to be treated to a special performance from a local concert band during the build-up to the Euros semi-final between England and the Netherlands tomorrow.

La Ronde Concert Band will be at Howard Davis Park on Wednesday evening playing a programme of classics – including Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond – as islanders head to the big-screen for the football game.

From 19:15 until kick-off at 20:00, the 30-piece ensemble will showcase a programme of classic songs and theme tunes.

Charlotte Cooper, La Ronde's conductor and Director of Music, said: “I am over the moon that we are playing at this exciting time.”

The brass, wind and percussion band will be collecting donations in aid of Jersey Mencap.

The programme of music includes:

  • An American in Paris – George Gershwin
  • Bring Him Home – Les Miserables
  • James Bond Theme
  • Olympic Fanfare and Theme – John Williams
  • One Moment in Time – recorded by Whitney Houston for the 1988 Summer Olympics
  • Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond
