A fifth man has been charged with two counts of rape in the Magistrate’s Court this morning.
Alexandru Dobrin (18) has been charged with two counts of rape and the case has been sent to the Royal Court due to the seriousness of the charges.
Mr Dobrin has been charged alongside four other men who appeared in Court yesterday – all of whom have also been accused of two counts of rape in relation to an incident alleged to have taken place in Trinity on Sunday 16 December.
The young man was represented by Advocate Chris Hillier who made no bail application on behalf of his client. Mr Dobrin has therefore been remanded in custody until his next Court appearance on 2 January.

Legal Advisor Paul Lee appeared for the prosecution.
Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris deemed that the case was “too serious” to be dealt with in the Magistrate’s Court. The matter will therefore be sent to the Royal Court on 30 January.
