French storms and strikes see ferries cancelled...again

Thursday 24 January 2019

Striking staff at the French port and stormy weather in the Bay of St. Malo have led ferry provider Condor to cancel several sailings this weekend.

Chamber of Commerce staff at the French port will be striking, leading to services between the Jersey and France to be cancelled on Saturday, while on Sunday, sailings are being cancelled as a result of poor weather.

Condor staff said that this industrial action was separate to recent strikes by stevedores and residents over fuel prices that had previously impacted their sailings.

The exact services affected are:

  • St Malo to Jersey at 07:20 and 19:00 return on Saturday and on Sunday
  • The departures at 12:25/13:30 St Malo-Jersey/Jersey-St Malo
  • Commodore Goodwill’s weekly freight service to the Brittany port on Saturday, which will not operate and switch to Monday 28 January

Condor say they are notifying customers and offering refunds or alternative sailings.
