Good news at last for Condor – bookings are up

Thursday 02 April 2015

Condor say that bookings are up for the key April-June period and that they are optimistic for the summer despite the early problems affecting their new £50 million ferry.

While repairs to the new Liberation vessel are continuing in Poole ahead of a planned return to service on Saturday, the ferry company say that overall, things are looking good for the next few months.

Alicia Andrews, Condor Executive Director – Commercial, said that all routes were showing an overall increase in bookings – adding that positive marketing campaigns by the island’s tourism agencies and Condor themselves had played a part.

“We have an increase in bookings across the board for the summer,” she said.

“We are showing very strong levels for bookings, in double-digits in some areas.

“That includes travel from France, inter-island travel and the routes from the UK.”

She also dismissed rumours that the new Liberation ferry will be more reliant on the tug to get into the harbours in Jersey and Guernsey than the previous vessel. It had been suggested that in some wind conditions, the tug would be needed to help the Liberation reach a berth, but the Condor director said there wasn’t any truth to the suggestions.
