'Hair-raising' designs saw Highlands College take home the trophy for best overall college as they competed against hair and beauty students from Guernsey College as part of a wider initiative which also saw visits from two French colleges.
Students from both Channel Island colleges put their brushes and bobby pins — as well as their technical, originality and presentation skills — to the test by representing a range of themes using hair and makeup techniques.
Members of the industry in Jersey, Guernsey and France judged the efforts in a range of categories including the best avant-garde make-up, best avant-garde hair, best rock star hair, and more.
French students also observed the competition, and plan to compete next year — while there is the potential for University College Isle of Man to put their brushes to the test next year too.
As part of their visit, students from the hair and beauty school of Lycee des Metiers Montbareil de Guingamp were "pampered" with an 'Insight into Beauty' afternoon held at Voisins Department Store.

There were interactive masterclasses and quizzes with Jersey Honey and Jersey Lavender about their skincare ranges and cosmetology processes and even a talk from Jersey Heritage on recreating the '1940s look'.
Lycee Hotelier de Dinard, a specialist college in Dinard that focuses on hospitality, culinary arts and tourism, also visited during the week where they took part in activities ranging from masterclasses to demonstrations and visits to local hotels, restaurants and businesses.
