Headway CEO standing with Jersey Liberal Conservatives

Headway’s CEO is standing for election with the Jersey Liberal Conservatives party.

Malcolm Ferey, who was previously Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Jersey, will be standing in St. Saviour, where he has lived for 29 years.

He started his career in finance before joining the Social Security department, working in fraud and compliance and later becoming the department’s Data Protection Officer.

During the pandemic, he worked on the Government’s ‘Community Task Force’ to coordinate volunteer efforts and received the Bailiff’s Gold Award for his efforts. He currently holds a seat on the Employment Forum, which consults on the minimum wage.

“I believe that the skills and abilities that I have gathered throughout my career will place me in good stead to make a difference,” Mr Ferey commented.

The Jersey Liberal Conservatives – which describe themselves as “socially liberal and fiscally conservative” – were officially registered as a party in January 2022 after launching as a ‘movement’ last year.

The party has published a ‘mini manifesto’ online, but will be publishing a fuller manifesto six to eight weeks before the election.

It is led by former Bailiff and External Relations Minister, Sir Philip Bailhache, who said of the latest candidate announcement: "I am delighted that Malcolm has chosen to stand for the Jersey Liberal Conservatives. His integrity and compassion make him an ideal JLC candidate, and he makes a very positive contribution to our team."

The election is taking place on 22 June.
